Netanyahu Appoints Acting Civil Service Commissioner, Criticizes Supreme Court: 'Acting as Legislative Branch'

|
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced the appointment of Foreign Ministry Director General Eden Bar-Tal as Acting Civil Service Commissioner. Netanyahu criticized the Supreme Court, stating, 'For about a year, in the midst of a multi-front war, the government has been trying to appoint a permanent Civil Service Commissioner in the same way commissioners have been appointed until now - but the government's legal counsel, backed by the Supreme Court, prevents this. Now the Supreme Court goes even further. It is acting as a legislative authority, overturning its own previous ruling, and interpreting the law in complete contradiction to its language and the legislator's intent.'
