The Houthis demanded $51 billion from Saudi Arabia to stop attacks against it, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The report added that the proposal was submitted following an approach by Saudi Arabia after the Houthis succeeded in seizing control of the strategic city of Mocha near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
According to the report, which relies on sources involved in the talks, the Houthis claimed this was the amount needed for reconstruction after years of attacks and blockade. The rebel group also demanded Riyadh recognize them as the official rulers of Yemen.
