Hadas Shtaif and IDF Radio ordered to pay Effi Naveh NIS 600,000: 'Her actions were of a criminal nature'

|
The Central District Court in Lod partially accepted the lawsuit filed by Effi Naveh, former chairman of the Israel Bar Association, against journalist Hadas Shtaif and the State of Israel. The lawsuit was filed over the hacking of his mobile phone devices and the publication of their personal contents on IDF Radio in January 2019. The judge ruled that Shtaif's actions constitute a severe violation of Naveh's privacy and a tort of breach of statutory duty, in violation of the Computer Law and the Wiretapping Law. The ruling stated: "Shtaif was the initiating and mediating factor who instigated and promoted the breach of password-protected devices... Shtaif's actions are of a criminal nature by virtue of her central role."
