US: We've expanded sanctions against Iranian officials involved in suppressing freedom of expression

|
The U.S. administration announced the imposition of additional visa restrictions against 18 senior officials in the Iranian regime and top executives in Iran's media industry, citing their involvement in serious human rights violations and suppression of freedom of expression and assembly of the country's citizens. A deputy State Department spokesperson said the move is being carried out under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, at the initiative of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The visa restrictions will also apply to the immediate family members of those officials.
