|
A Nations League match between Ireland and Austria was disrupted when tennis balls bearing Palestinian flags were thrown onto the pitch in Dublin by protesters – in protest against holding matches against Israel. The referee ordered the players to take a drinks break after the balls landed on the field, at which point Ireland was leading 1-0 in the 19th minute. Before the match, protesters gathered against Israel and in support of their national team goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu who decided to boycott the matches. At one point, one of the protesters even broke onto the pitch.
