The government of Ghana announced that in addition to the Defense Minister, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed was also killed in the helicopter crash. It was reported that eight people were killed in the crash, including Defense Minister Edward Kofi Omane Boamah. The helicopter was en route from the capital city Accra to the city of Obuasi in the south of the country.
