Following the case of baby Sophia, the Supreme Court rejected the genetic parents' request for a further hearing. The decision effectively means that the ruling given about a month ago, stating that Sophia will remain with her raising parents, will stand. In the ruling, the Supreme Court determined that alongside this, an appropriate arrangement for contact between Sophia and her genetic parents will be established. Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit wrote in his ruling: "There is agreement among all members of the panel that genetic connection to a newborn does not in itself automatically confer legal parental status."
