Hanna Laszlo informed the Public Diplomacy Directorate that she has officially decided not to light a torch on Independence Day eve. Laszlo wrote: "I cannot light the torch, technically it is not possible for me as I am committed to my role in the musical 'Funny Girl' and mentally because bereaved parents are writing to me and it is very difficult for me. Thank you for the selection and the honor."
