Deal sealed: Zim sold for $4.2 billion

|
The deal to sell shipping company Zim was signed in Tel Aviv. A delegation of senior executives from German company Hapag-Lloyd, headed by CEO Rolf Habben Jansen, arrived in Israel to sign the agreement. Zim is being sold for $4.2 billion. Following the signing, Hapag-Lloyd is expected to hold an online Zoom press conference with Israeli and German reporters, in which it will present its positions and plans for managing the company in the future, and will attempt to allay some of the concerns raised in Israel regarding the transfer of a strategic company to foreign hands. The German company will sell the Israeli operations to the PIMI fund. Fund manager Yishai Davidi said that 'PIMI recognizes and believes in the strategic importance to the State of Israel of an independent and strong Israeli shipping company.'
