Death of Unit 504 soldier during combat training: Officers dismissed, commanding officer reprimanded

The IDF spokesperson announced that findings from the expert committee investigation regarding the circumstances of the death of Sgt. Yosef Chaim Zvi Serlin on March 26 were presented to his family after the medical investigation was completed. The investigation found that Yosef performed an exercise as part of combat training that was defined in the unit's warrior training program, during which he was injured, and after attempts to provide medical treatment, his death was pronounced. The manner in which the exercise was performed violated orders and directives of the Chief Infantry and Paratroopers Officer in the field of combat fitness. In light of the findings, D., the commander of Unit 504 with the rank of brigadier general, received a command reprimand. Y., the commander of the combat array in Unit 504 with the rank of lieutenant colonel, will have his promotion delayed for six years. N., an officer with the rank of captain, was immediately dismissed from his position and will be prevented from holding a command position for two years. A., an officer with the rank of lieutenant, was immediately dismissed from his position and will be prevented from holding a command position for two years. T., an officer with the rank of lieutenant, was dismissed from his position and discharged from the IDF.
