Shas chairman Aryeh Deri published the party's election promise, pledging 'tefillin for every child.' According to him, 'Every child upon turning 13 will receive as a gift from the Ministry of Education a set including a tallit and tefillin. In addition, Shas will work to require the education system to allocate prayer space for boys who wish to put on tefillin and pray. This is Shas' response to Yair Golan who wants to eliminate religion from the public sphere.'
