Former hostage Ophir Engel, who was kidnapped with Yossi Sharabi who was murdered in captivity, said at Yossi's funeral that "from the moment they told us you were killed, I haven't been able to talk about you and say who you really were to me. What you meant to me during my hardest days, days when I felt between life and death. The last time I saw you, when they separated us in Gaza, you were alive. During the two months we were together, locked in a small room, hungry and afraid - you took care of me. You shared the little food we had there with me so we would be less hungry. The moment they separated us, I was just waiting for you to return, not in this way, but after 700 days of burning anticipation we've closed a circle."
