The U.S. Department of Justice announced that Michael Kadar, 27, a dual American-Israeli citizen known as 'The Ashkelon Hacker,' was extradited to the U.S. and brought to court in Orlando for arraignment. The indictment charges him with hate crimes and interference with freedom of religion against Jewish institutions, after making false bomb and shooting threats to Jewish community centers and kindergartens in Florida in early 2017, in addition to charges in Washington and Georgia, including threats against the Israeli embassy. He was extradited from Norway to the U.S. after serving a prison sentence in Israel. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for hate crimes, 10 years for bomb threats and 5 years for interstate threats. He also faces restitution payments.
