The Washington Post reported on a plan for Gaza Strip rehabilitation that is "circulating" in the Trump administration, based on the US president's promise to "take over" the Strip - turning it into a trust territory managed by the US for at least 10 years. During this time, Gaza would be transformed into a tourist resort and a technology and high-tech manufacturing center. All Gaza residents - more than two million people - would be evacuated through "voluntary departure" to another country or to closed and secured complexes within the Strip. The calculations in the plan point to a return of almost four times on a $100 billion investment within 10 years. Parts of the proposal were first published in the Financial Times, and previously the "Gaza 2035" plan presenting a similar utopian vision was also revealed on ynet.
