Thailand's Foreign Ministry announced it will soon submit a plan to the cabinet to reduce the visa-free stay period for tourists from 93 countries, including Israel. The move, which would reduce the stay duration from 60 days to 30 days, comes as part of a government effort to tighten oversight of those entering the kingdom. According to the report, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow clarified that the ministry will submit the plan for cabinet approval. The move will apply to tourists from 93 countries currently enjoying visa exemptions – a policy that was expanded only in July 2024 to encourage incoming tourism. According to the minister, the move is intended to address concerns about abuse of extended stay periods and involvement of some tourists in illegal activity in the kingdom.
