Christa Pike, the 50-year-old killer who survived an execution attempt in Tennessee last week, has begun eating and walking with assistance at the hospital. Her attorneys reported that "Christa is dealing with deep psychological trauma resulting from surviving a failed execution attempt, including the terror, pain and uncertainty that accompanied the belief she was about to die." According to them, "while her physical recovery is impressive, significant questions remain about the long-term effects of what she endured." Pike was sentenced to death after brutally murdering her classmate at age 18. She received two lethal injections that failed to kill her.
