U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. The State Department reported that among other things, Rubio emphasized to al-Sudani that "a government controlled by Iran cannot successfully prioritize Iraq's own interests, prevent Iraq from entering regional conflicts or advance the mutually beneficial partnership between Washington and Baghdad."
