Following the announcement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office about the release of Mahmoud Salama, an Israeli citizen from Jaljulia who was imprisoned for about three months in Jordan, Israeli officials said they do not know the background to his arrest. Coordinator for Prisoners and Missing Persons Gal Hirsch, who greeted Salama upon his return, was required to intervene in the matter, and after negotiations he was released. The officials added that Salama has a criminal record, but "he is an Israeli citizen who was imprisoned unjustly from our perspective. Everything else will be clarified."
