Dream, a company specializing in cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection, claimed it uncovered an Iranian cyberattack that penetrated the international diplomatic system and reached negotiation rooms in Cairo that were dealing with Gaza ceasefire and hostage release talks. According to the company, hackers from Iran managed to access a legitimate email account of an employee at the Omani embassy in Paris and used it to send messages to diplomatic networks containing Word files with malicious software that activated when opened. They said that through this method, the attack directly reached Egyptian officials who were in the midst of ceasefire talks in Cairo, alongside mediators from the United States and Qatar.
