After the 48-hour deadline given by US President Donald Trump to Hamas regarding the unreturned captives' bodies, Hamas leader in Gaza Khalil al-Hayya said in an interview with Al Jazeera that "we will enter new areas today to search for some of the bodies." He also said that Israel "failed to achieve its goals during two years of war" and that his organization "will not give it an excuse to renew fighting." On the issue of disarmament, al-Hayya said: "Our weapons are linked to the existence of occupation and aggression, and if the occupation ends - the weapons will return to the state. The issue is still being discussed with factions and mediators, and the agreement is still in its infancy. We have no reservations about the management of the Gaza Strip by any national figure residing in Gaza."
