Sources in the National Unit for Fraud Investigations report that according to suspicions, a mayor and his wife from the Sharon region allegedly promoted the interests of businesspeople and associates, including criminal elements, in exchange for bribes. Police suspect that in order to conceal suspicions of rigging tenders, projects were transferred from the municipality to the municipal economic corporation, and the CEO knew in advance which party was supposed to win the tender. In some cases, obstacles were placed before competitors that forced them to withdraw from participation. The suspicions relate to almost every area of municipal activity. It is alleged that 'this is a city that was sold – nothing less than that.'
