Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the state's Cabinet voted to designate the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the United States, along with the Muslim Brotherhood movement and more than 90 other organizations, as terrorist organizations. The decision is based on a new state law allowing for the legal dissolution of these organizations, expulsion of students who support them from academic institutions and the withholding of state funding, following the state's claims of connections between the council and Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
