Police reported that Lahav 433 officers arrested and detained 24 suspects in a public corruption case, including a mayor from the Sharon region and his wife, the CEO of an economic company and businesspeople, following an undercover investigation conducted by the unit for over a year. According to the suspicion, the mayor, with unusual involvement of his wife, worked with the CEO of the economic company to favor the bribers and led to their winning lucrative tenders in various fields in the local authority in exchange for bribe money that was transferred mainly in cash. The alleged offenses include bribery, fraud and breach of trust, money laundering, tax offenses and more.
