France's foreign minister said that if allegations prove true that European Parliament member Rima Hassan, from France's radical left, tore down Israeli and European Union flags during an exhibition dedicated to October 7, they "justify the imposition of severe and deterrent sanctions by the European Parliament." The minister added: "I hope that memorial events will be able to take place under the best conditions, remembering that 51 of our nationals lost their lives during that tragedy."
