The incident occurred during a battalion-scale attack by the Golani Brigade in Khan Younis, aimed at mining buildings in the area. During the operation, a powerful explosion occurred in one of the buildings, resulting in Capt. Biran's death. An initial suspicion that it was an operational accident is being investigated, but other possibilities are also being examined.
