The Be'er Sheva District Court sentenced Mordechai Maman, 72, from Ashkelon, to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to contact with a foreign agent and unauthorized entry into an enemy state. Maman met with intelligence agents on Iranian soil who attempted to recruit him to carry out actions against Israel. Maman's conviction was the first during the war, among several other cases where serious indictments were filed against Israeli citizens who were recruited by Iranian agents with the intention of harming the state.
