Supreme Court President: 'Judicial Independence Under Attack. This Attempt Will Not Succeed'

|
Supreme Court President Justice Yitzhak Amit said at the Israel Bar Association conference in Eilat that 'for some time now, the judiciary has faced repeated attempts to undermine its independence, weaken it and limit its ability to act independently. Judicial independence is under attack in both public and political spheres.' Amit noted that 'the attempt to undermine the principle of judicial independence will not succeed. The judiciary will continue to stand firm against attempts to erode its resilience and will continue to protect the democratic fabric, without fear or hesitation.'
