The German parliament, the Bundestag, approved the expansion of the deal to purchase the Israeli Arrow 3 system at a cost of approximately $3.1 billion more. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense, which noted that the Arrow deal is expected to total more than $6.7 billion (over 20 billion shekels) and become the largest in Israel's history. The Arrow 3 system was jointly developed by the Homa Directorate at MAFAT in the Ministry of Defense, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Israel Aerospace Industries, which is the prime contractor for the development and production of the system. As part of the expanded deal, the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the German Ministry of Defense agreed on a significant increase in the production rate of Arrow 3 interceptors and launchers, which will be supplied to Germany and significantly improve its air defense capability.
