The spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, called on state leaders during Memorial Day to work 'for a better and more equal country.' He added: 'At this moment, the eyes and hearts of the Druze community are turned toward the attacks on Druze villages around Damascus. I call on the State of Israel, the international community and the Jewish people to act now, immediately, to prevent mass killings. Israel must not stand idly by in view of what is happening at this very moment in Syria.'
