Former Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman submitted his objection to the Grunis Committee for senior civil service appointments regarding the nomination of Maj. Gen. (res.) David Zini to head the agency, claiming the appointment is tainted with serious ethical flaws – both by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and by Zini himself – and could endanger Israeli democracy. According to Argaman, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara instructed Netanyahu to avoid any involvement in the appointment until a legal review is completed, but Netanyahu blatantly ignored this. Argaman stated this represents a "heavy contamination" of the appointment and violation of the rule of law, warranting automatic disqualification.
