In closed-door discussions held at the European Broadcasting Union, a proposal was raised to remove Israel from Eurovision in Europe and transfer it to the new competition being organized in Asia, Ynet has learned. According to two sources who spoke with Ynet, the proposal was raised and discussed, with attempts made to sound out countries that have already joined Eurovision Asia, as well as countries negotiating membership, regarding Israel's transfer. According to those sources, partial opposition was recorded and it is doubtful whether the move will ultimately be able to proceed.
