Report: Pro-Iranian militias in Iraq on alert to attack U.S. bases

Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, affiliated with Hezbollah, reported from sources in Baghdad that some pro-Iranian militias in Iraq have entered a "state of alert," repositioned combat arrays and moved equipment to secure locations. A commander in one of the militias told the newspaper that they "have completed all logistical and military preparations to carry out precise attacks against American bases in case of any order from the axis leadership." According to him, "The response to the U.S. will be painful - and may begin from Iraq." He added that Iraqi militias are partners in decision-making and not just Iran's "agents."
