Report: US Energy Department employee questioned by FBI on suspicion of aiding Houthis

|
A U.S. Department of Energy employee was arrested by the FBI on suspicion of aiding the Houthis. The suspect is Ashton Hamed Alaabodi, a 51-year-old electrical engineer from Washington, suspected of purchasing materials for making explosives at home and traveling with them to Yemen. According to a CBS report, last September he used a special passport granted to him during his time working with the U.S. military. When he returned, he told authorities the purpose of the trip was to oversee defense systems and that he was sent on behalf of the state. When his supervisors were summoned to testify at the FBI, they said there was no such mission.
