Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam addressed the security situation in an interview in his country amid the presence of the IDF in Lebanese territory. According to him, "The war was not something we wanted or chose, it was a war imposed on us." He emphasized that "our goal is a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory," adding: "I want to strengthen the military capabilities of the Lebanese army. What concerns me is a vacuum in the south after the end of UNIFIL's mission. We will still need an international force in the south." On relations with Iran, he said: "We want to open a new chapter with them."
