Consumer Price Index for August Rose 0.7%, Annual Inflation Rate Remains at 1.5%

The Consumer Price Index for August rose 0.7% — as high as expected but slightly lower than forecasts. The annual inflation rate remained at 1.5%, as last year's August index also rose at a similar rate. Notable price increases were recorded in fresh vegetables, transportation, housing and culture and entertainment. The Housing Price Index rose 0.2%.
