Russia: Magnitude 6 earthquake strikes Kamchatka Peninsula

A magnitude 6 earthquake struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which added that the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km below the earth's surface. About two weeks ago, a powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the peninsula, triggering tsunami waves in Japan and warnings in the U.S. and several other countries.
