Defense Ministry: 22,000 wounded added to Rehabilitation Division's care since Oct. 7

On the occasion of the Day of Appreciation for the wounded members of the IDF and security forces, the Rehabilitation Division of the Defense Ministry updated that 82,400 wounded individuals are being treated by the division, 31,000 of whom are dealing with mental health issues and PTSD. It was also reported that about 22,000 wounded were added to the Rehabilitation Division's care after the October 7 massacre, 58% of them struggling with psychological injury, and about 1,500 new applications from wounded individuals seeking recognition are submitted each month. According to estimates, by 2028 the division will care for approximately 100,000 wounded, 50% of them mental health patients. The division has expanded its medical and psychological treatment envelope for the wounded and the fulfillment of their rights, and its budget has jumped by 53% to 8.3 billion shekels.
