After a lengthy process with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and in accordance with the authority established by law, the Tzohar kashrut system has received approval to operate as a kosher certification body. The move comes after legal proceedings conducted in the Supreme Court, in which Tzohar requested that its application for recognition as a kosher certification body be examined according to the criteria established by law, in an objective and equal manner. Tzohar said that after a long period, the approval was received today from the Director General of the Chief Rabbinate. Tzohar added that this is a precedent-setting and historic step that may contribute to strengthening the kosher certification system in Israel, increasing transparency, lowering costs and strengthening public trust in kashrut. Following the decision, Tzohar Kashrut issued an updated kosher certificate to most of the businesses under its supervision, which includes the word 'kosher.'
