High Court orders cancellation of government appointments to Second Authority chair and council members

|
The High Court of Justice ruled that the government's decisions to appoint Dr. Yifat Ben Chai-Segev as chair of the Second Authority for Television and Radio Council, and attorneys Canarat Brashi and Dr. Chaim Shine as council members, must be canceled. The petitioners argued that the government's decisions were made "in a rushed process, without a complete factual and legal foundation," and among other things aimed to thwart the acquisition of Channel 13. It was further argued that since Dr. Ben Chai-Segev is a witness in the Prime Minister's criminal trial, his involvement in her appointment process constitutes a violation of the conflict of interest arrangement.
