Microsoft just unveiled their new Surface Laptop 5, the latest installment of their popular laptop line. With a new line of Intel 12th Gen CPUs, Thunderbolt 4 port, and a new Sage Green color, the Surface Laptop 5 could be the next must-have laptop. In this review, we'll take a look at the features and specs of the Surface Laptop 5 and see if it's worth it.
Recently I had the opportunity to use the new Microsoft Surface Laptop 5. Having been a long-time user of Microsoft products, I was excited to take a closer look at it.
When I first opened up the laptop, I noticed it had an incredibly sleek design with a brushed aluminum finish all the way around. I was also happy to see the laptop had an included Surface Pen which could come in handy for casual sketching.
The laptop runs on Intel's 12th Gen CPUs and boasts a new Thunderbolt 4 port. It also has support for Dolby Vision IQ, which uses ambient light to adjust the display's color settings.
After using the laptop for several weeks, I found the performance was great. I especially enjoyed using the IR camera for the facial recognition login process to be really fast. I had no trouble streaming video or editing photos on the laptop either.
The only issue I had was with the connectivity. The laptop only has two USB ports and no SD card reader which was a letdown. This means I would need to use a dongle every time I wanted to switch out a card or connect more devices.

Upgrading to Intel 12th Gen CPUs in Microsoft Surface Laptop 5
Microsoft has upgraded its Surface Laptop 5 with Intel's 12th Generation CPUs, offering users a significant performance boost over the CPUs featured in the Surface 4. With these CPUs, users can expect to see improved performance in multitasking and graphics processing, as well as increased battery life. Additionally, the Surface Laptop 5 features a Thunderbolt 4 port, new Sage Green color option, support for Dolby Vision IQ, and individualized wallpapers based on the system's color. Unfortunately, there is still no dedicated GPU option on the 15-inch model, nor is there an SD card reader, making it slightly less versatile than other laptops. Ultimately, the Intel 12th Gen CPUs offer noticeable improvements for users looking for better performance and battery life in the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5.
What is Dolby Vision IQ and What Benefits Does it Offer?
Dolby Vision IQ is an advanced feature that is featured on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5. It uses ambient light to automatically adjust your display’s color settings for optimal brightness and contrast. This is great for people who work in different lighting conditions or who are sensitive to light. It also allows for more accurate colors in video streaming services and is great for video editing. Is the 720p Camera on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 Competing With Other Laptops?
Microsoft recently announced its newest Surface laptop, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5. Comparing the Surfaces of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5
Microsoft's Surface Laptop 5 has several upgrades from the Surface Laptop 4, including the new line of Intel 12th gen CPUs, Thunderbolt 4 port, and Sage Green color. It is also equipped with support for Dolby Vision IQ. Two main differences between the two models are the deck and the finish. The Surface Laptop 4 has a fuzzy Alcantara deck, while the Surface Laptop 5 has a sleek brushed aluminum finish. The Alcantara deck gives a softer look and feel, while the aluminum finish gives a more modern look. Both surfaces offer quality, but depending on the user's preference, one may be more suitable than the other.
