I recently got my hands on the new 2021 MacBook Pro and I have to say I was immediately impressed. The Macbook Pros have taken design to the next level with their squared off and thicker shape, the Apple logo slightly larger on the back and the engraving at the bottom. The ports are also back and they have been improved. On the right side you have a full-size HDMI port, one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports and a full-size half depth SD card slot. Around the left side you have two more Thunderbolt 4 ports, a headphone jack and the Magnetic MagSafe charging port.
Speaking of power, these laptops come with a 96 watt power adapter for the 14 inch MacBook Pro, and a huge rectangular 140 watt charging brick for the 16 inch variant. The headphone jacks on these Macbooks are also high powered, allowing them to support high impedance headphones.
The displays are mini LED HDR 16 x 10 in aspect ratio with almost 4K resolution and a high refresh rate. They are 10-bit panels and can reach 1600 nits max brightness while playing HDR content. There’s a notch up top with a 1080p webcam, ambient light sensor, and a little LED light. The software seems to treat the screen as if there’s no notch, as when in full screen, the menu bar turns black.
