New taxi app launches in Israel, aiming to disrupt local market

Backed by 4,000 drivers and developed with a focus on fairness and transparency, TAXIGO introduces a commission-friendly model, real-time ride tracking and innovative features like in-taxi cash withdrawals and business integrations across 38,000 locations

A new taxi app called TAXIGO has launched in Israel, aiming to challenge the dominance of Gett, the market leader in recent years.
The app introduces a model based on fairness, transparency and accessibility, targeting both drivers and passengers with an approach that its developers say addresses growing dissatisfaction in the industry.

According to the company, more than 4,000 taxi drivers signed on to the platform before the app officially launched—an indication, it says, of strong demand for a new player in the market. The platform was developed over two and a half years at a cost of more than 4 million shekels (about $1.24 million), with input from hundreds of drivers involved in both the design and testing stages.
Unlike Yango, a rival app that struggled to compete with Gett due in part to a limited number of participating drivers, TAXIGO is entering the market with a focus on rapid expansion and improved terms for drivers. The app charges no subscription fees and takes an 8 percent commission, including VAT—significantly lower than competitors. No commissions are charged on weekends or holidays.
One of the app’s central features is flexibility: drivers can work with multiple platforms and choose the most profitable rides. TAXIGO says this move is designed to relieve what it describes as a sense of pressure and lack of freedom among many drivers.
For consumers, the app offers one-click ride ordering, real-time tracking and payment either in cash or through the app. During the launch period, users will receive 5 percent cashback on each ride, redeemable on their next trip. The company also offers 24/7 human customer service in addition to its digital interface, highlighting its commitment to combining technology with personal assistance.

TAXIGO is also expanding beyond the traditional ride-hailing model. In partnership with Verifone, it will integrate a taxi-ordering button directly into the payment terminals of more than 38,000 businesses across Israel, allowing rides to be booked directly from in-store systems without needing to open a separate app.
The platform also connects with restaurant reservation apps via a partnership with OnTopo, allowing users to book a taxi to a restaurant directly from the venue’s page. Another feature to be introduced is the “mobile ATM,” which will let users withdraw up to 400 shekels in cash directly from the taxi, in collaboration with Open Finance.
TAXIGO’s rollout begins in central Israel, from Gedera to Hadera, with plans for nationwide expansion in the coming months.
