Pop star Noa Kirel and national soccer team goalkeeper Daniel Peretz cut short their honeymoon in Japan after Kirel fell ill shortly after the couple arrived in Tokyo.
The two had left for Japan last week, more than six months after their large wedding. The honeymoon had been planned for two weeks, but the couple boarded a flight back to Israel after Kirel’s condition worsened.
Kirel was hospitalized at a medical center in central Israel. Her family has asked that her privacy be respected.
The couple have had a busy period. Kirel recently prepared for and performed two major shows at Live Park in Rishon Lezion earlier this month. Peretz has been following an intensive training schedule and recently signed with English Premier League side Southampton on a permanent deal.
The honeymoon required both to clear two full weeks from their packed schedules, but it ended before it had truly begun.
Kirel and Peretz married in November in two events: a smaller ceremony with relatives and close friends in Jaffa, followed the next day by a large Tel Aviv celebration attended by about 1,000 guests, including celebrities and figures from the sports world.
