It has been months since we last checked in on the turbulent personal life of the world’s richest man, billionaire Elon Musk.
Over the weekend, Shivon Zilis, who had been Musk’s partner in recent years and shares four of his 14 children, revealed that he had left her without warning.
“It’s hard to go from great love to a breakup within a week, with no warning, but sometimes that’s how it is,” she wrote in a post on X.
Zilis, whose romantic relationship with Musk developed after he initially served as her sperm donor, wrote about the breakup with pain but also with affection despite the way the relationship ended.
“I’m hurting, but I care deeply about Elon and will always root for his happiness,” she wrote. “God bless you, Elon. The world is lucky to have you.”
Zilis also suggested that she and their children had provided Musk with a refuge from his demanding career and public life, which are often accompanied by headlines, controversy and confrontation in both technology and politics.
“We were always his safe place,” she wrote. “A place where we were all so happy to see him, and which was immediately filled with happiness and love, not war, unlike his combative existence in other ways. There is a lot of pain, but thankfully we created four beautiful little loves.”
Zilis continued in the same tone, describing Musk as “a soul that was often troubled” and saying her goal had been “to show Elon what it feels like to be deeply understood, nurtured and loved peacefully, steadily and gently.”
Alongside her statement, Zilis shared a screenshot of what she said were some of her final text messages with Musk.
“It was really wonderful seeing you at breakfast. Love you very much,” Zilis wrote, according to the screenshot.
Musk replied on Sept. 24: “I love you too.”
Three days later, on Sept. 27, between that exchange and her public announcement of the breakup, Zilis posted a brief message without further explanation: “New day, new life.”
