Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be replaced after it was vandalized about a week after the country music legend died of cancer at age 80.
Photos and videos posted on social media showed dark marks and scratches across Parton’s name.
One fan wrote that she had gone to the site with her daughter to leave flowers in Parton’s memory when a cleaning worker told her that a woman had kicked candles placed beside the star and then used one of the broken pieces to scratch it.
According to the fan, another man later arrived and took flowers that other visitors had left at the site.
Anna Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told TMZ that repair work on Parton’s star had already been scheduled for Tuesday because of cracks that had developed earlier.
However, she said fans reported Monday night that the star had also been vandalized.

Parton, known as the Queen of Country, was one of the most recognizable and influential figures in American music for more than six decades.
Born in Tennessee in 1946, she rose to fame in the 1960s and went on to record a long list of hits including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”
She received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1984.
