Israel's contender in the 2023 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Noa Kirel unveiled Wednesday night her entry for the competition, entitled Unicorn, which she hopes will carry her to the finals in Liverpool.
Premiered on public broadcaster Kan 11, the music video is primarily set in a swanky restaurant, the 21-year-old is seen dancing on all fours on the establishment's ceiling in a black tight dress as diners look up at her.
Kirel has said in past interviews that the song centers around a theme of woman which is echoed in the chorus: "I'm gonna stand here like a unicorn, out here on my own, I got the power of a unicorn."
While the song is primarily in English, it is peppered with some Hebrew words.
According to bookmakers, Kirel is likely to finish somewhere between 6th and 9th place overall, with the Israeli public obviously hoping for a win.
In past editions, Israel's entry for the competition was picked by Israeli audiences who voted for their favorite choice out of a pool of local artists. However, this time around, the tune was picked by the Israeli songstress and a panel of experts as part of the creative freedom afforded to her.
The first semi-final will feature Kirel among others and is set to be held on May 9. Israel is hoping she'll make it to the finals which will take place five days later in Liverpool.
Despite the fact that Ukraine won last year's edition, the war-torn eastern European nation, for obvious reasons, will not host this year.
