The Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) resumed its current season last week and has announced a full slate of performances scheduled for the coming months, encompassing programs of classical music and children’s concerts, as well as concerts in informal settings and movie screenings accompanied by live musical soundtracks.
Classic movies with live orchestra accompaniment appears to be a new trend on the Israeli cultural scene, with The Revolution Orchestra also resuming this genre next week.

The IPO will be presenting Toy Story in Concert in Tel Aviv this month, in conjunction with Disney Pixar motion pictures. The legendary 1995 animated film Toy Story won both Oscar and Grammy awards for its songs and soundtracks composed by Randy Newman, while Hollywood legends Tom Hanks and Don Rickles provided the voiceovers for some of the iconic cartoon characters, such as Buzz Lightyear and Mr. Potato Head.
Meanwhile, Israel’s interdisciplinary music lab The Revolution Orchestra will be following up its pre-war Tel Aviv screenings of the groundbreaking Charlie Chaplin silent film Modern Times with upcoming performances in Herzliya and Haifa. The multimedia collaboration is highlighted by the live accompaniment of the original soundtrack, conducted by Roy Oppenheimer.

The IPO relaunched its 2026 season with a series of concerts in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem last week, featuring 100% local talent: Israeli violinist Michael Shaham and Israeli conductor Ariel Zuckerman. The prize-winning young violin soloist Shaham delighted audiences with his virtuoso performance of the famous violin concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven, followed by a short encore composed by Niccolo Paganini. The concert program was rounded out by Felix Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony.
