Actor, comedian, and writer John Cleese will perform three shows in Israel this June, with performances scheduled in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Ticket prices range from 289 to 549 shekels.
This will be the 85-year-old Cleese’s second time performing in Israel, following his September 2019 show at Tel Aviv’s Charles Bronfman Auditorium, titled Last Time to See Me Before I Die. His new show, An Evening with John Cleese, will feature reflections on key moments in his life and career— including, of course, his time with the legendary Monty Python comedy troupe. Cleese is also expected to address current events, including local topics.
In 1969, Cleese joined forces with fellow comedians Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam to create Monty Python’s Flying Circus, a groundbreaking sketch show that had a profound influence on comedy in Britain and beyond.
By 1983, the group had also produced three cult-classic films: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Life of Brian (1979), and The Meaning of Life (1983). Afterward, its members pursued individual careers.

In 1975, Cleese created and starred in the sitcom Fawlty Towers, which became a huge success and later attained cult status. In 1988, he starred in the hit crime comedy A Fish Called Wanda, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. More recently, Cleese appeared in director Roman Polanski’s film The Palace.
Cleese's visit is organized by Alon Yorik Productions, which has recently brought several international figures and artists to Israel, including Douglas Murray, Mosab Hassan Yousef (The Green Prince), Emma Shapplin, and Richard Clayderman.
