‘It Ends With Us’ author Colleen Hoover discloses cancer diagnosis

Bestselling author shares hospital photo and says she underwent radiation after being diagnosed with cancer, revealing she first noticed health issues while filming a movie adaptation of one of her novels

Colleen Hoover, the American author behind the bestselling novels “It Ends With Us” and “Regretting You,” revealed Monday that she has undergone treatment following a cancer diagnosis.
In a post shared on social media, Hoover said she had just one day left of radiation therapy as part of her treatment. “Second to last day of radiation,” she wrote in an Instagram story. "I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @Texas.Oncology, but they've been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them."

In December, Hoover disclosed in a post to a private Facebook fan group that she had been diagnosed with cancer, without specifying the type. She said at the time that she would require radiation therapy but not chemotherapy. Earlier, she had hinted at health issues that would prevent her from promoting the film adaptation of “Regretting You” or hosting a planned book signing event.
In an Instagram post published in October, Hoover wrote that she was “super bummed," but needed to undergo surgery and would be unable to travel for some time.
She later added that she was "so sad to miss this movie release and premiere, but so grateful to all the actors and the team who put this together."
In a Facebook post, Hoover explained that she had been in Canada filming “Reminders of Him” when she began noticing recurring health problems, which she postponed addressing until production wrapped.

"When I returned home, I found out I had cancer," she wrote, adding that the tumor had "been removed through surgery", and now she is undergoing radiation. "While it felt huge and scary for a bit, and I had to miss out on the 'Regretting You' premiere, and some other important career and personal moments, I just wasn't ready to share with anyone until I knew what the outcome would be", she wrote.
Hoover’s next novel, “Woman Down,” is scheduled for release on January 13. She said she has not yet scheduled book signing events, explaining that she wanted to be transparent with fans about the reason. Hoover added that her condition is good and that she feels relieved and fortunate the process was relatively short, urging fans to listen to their bodies whenever something feels off.
