The Cannes Film Festival opened Tuesday night with a touch of Hollywood glamour and an Israeli connection, as acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino and his wife, Israeli singer Daniella Pick, walked the red carpet in style.
Pick wore a sparkling silver gown by Israeli designer Lee Grebenau and pinned a yellow ribbon to her dress in solidarity with the 58 hostages still held by Hamas — a reminder that they have been in captivity for 585 days.

Tarantino, a guest of honor at this year’s Cannes Classics section, which showcases restored and historic films, also presented a tribute to the late American filmmaker George Sherman. He had the ceremonial role of officially opening the festival during its kickoff ceremony, which he did with characteristic flair — punctuating his remarks by theatrically tossing the microphone to the floor.
Earlier in the day, paparazzi caught the couple arriving at their hotel, hand in hand and smiling for the many photographers gathered to welcome them.
